About Us

The Northwest Tarrant Community Emergency Response Team  (CERT) program trains citizens in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist family members & others in their neighborhood or workplace.

Mission Statement: To provide support to first responders. To educate and prepare community members on disaster preparedness. Assist with coordinated disaster response and recovery efforts.

Initiated in 2013 as the Saginaw CERT, in 2021, the organization decided to expand outreach efforts and grow into the Northwest Tarrant CERT. Still the same 501(c)(3) organization, with a broader membership base in the Northwest Tarrant region. The Saginaw Fire Department is the primary sponsor for the organization, with the Lake Worth Fire Department signed on as a co-sponsor. The CERT program is overseen by the Lake Worth/ Saginaw Office of Emergency Management.

All members are put through the G-317 Community Emergency Response Team 24 hour course, application process, and background check prior to being accepted into the organization.
